Hello everyone,
Today is day 21 on the 28 day chemo cycle. He only received 8 days of chemo but the cycle from chemo being given until the effects are seen and then start to resolve is a total of 28 days.
Zachs counts were down a week ago Sunday and they should start to rise now. He has done wonderful!!! Thanks to all the prayers that are being said for him......God has blessed Zach once again with no side effects (other than hair loss) from the chemo, no fevers, no infections thus far,no lack of appetite, and no lack of energy! Again the dr's just scratch there head and smile. God is good!!! I know its not hard to figure out why Zach is doing so well.......I'm so grateful!
If Zach's counts trend upwards this week and he remains in good health, we hope to get our "break" next week...the 28th day is Monday.
Home schooling is going well, however, I'm having to skip through stuff to get where he isn't going to be bored. I'm also having to figure out how to keep him from taking advantage of the fact that "mom" is the teacher. Things to work out.
Zach had a 2 visits from his cousin Jack. He was so excited and kept asking for days after if he was coming again. Jack is 1 year older than Zach and both like to play video games and be silly.
Zachary is very excited about the change in seasons that will be coming soon.....especially the snow. We started a graph which we track the weather on a daily basis with temperature and if its sunny, cloudy etc.......if it is 2 degree's cooler than the day before, he thinks winter is coming....I have to explain that 72 degrees is far from winter here!
Thanks for all the cards and letters that everyone has been sending. Zachary enjoys getting them!
Thats it for now.....time to try and get Zach to do some school......."try" being the word of the day!
Thanks, as always, for all the support and prayers.......we appreciate them very much and we can see them working every day!

Hey Zach,
We hope you can come home soon for a break and get together with us... We are so excited to meet you and your family, can't wait!! Hang in there buddy, your doing awesome. Love Aunt Jenna and Ian
Hi Zach!
Did you know your Aunt Jennifer is teaching 1st grade now? During the first two weeks of school we did kindergarten work just for extra practice in case the kids forgot anything over the summer. It is called review. I'm going to ask that you listen to mommy and do what she asks of you even though it may seem boring. You'll get to harder stuff before you know it!
I'm glad to hear that you are feeling fine. I love you!
Aunt Jennifer
Hi Zach, it's Aunt Eileen, I've tried to post messages, but they aren't coming up. Oh well! Don't go wishing for snow so soon kiddo! It'll be here before you know it. You're great-uncle Bobby & I have shoveled snow off of Noni & Grampi's camp as deep as you are tall!!! You'll have to help us shovel when you get a little taller so we don't loose you..hahaha. Glad tou hear you're doing so well. Take care, love ya all........Aunt Eileen
Hi Zach,
You'll love the snow. Have you ever played in it? It's soft and cold and sometimes crunches when you walk in it. Your Dad can show you how to make snow angels by laying down and moving your arms and legs. The best time to look at is on a clear moon lit night when the stars are bright and the snow sparkles like diamonds. That's really beautiful. I'm sure you'll get to go sliding and all that other fun.
I'm so happy to hear you are doing so well. You truly are amazing!Enjoy school. I bet your mom is a wonderful teacher.
Love you. Aunt Patty
Joey just finished saying his prayers it kinda went like this..."Jesus, please keep helping Zachary! I can't believe he is still in the hospital! Man is he brave!" Man does Jesus listen to my little guy!!! Change in seasons...you better be going on a leave hunt when you break outta there and sending ms. mancini some major leaves this fall...PORTER, ya hear me!!!! I am sooo excited for you to see it!
Hey, you keep up the great work!!! Sawyer has never seen the leaves change (his mom is so boring she never takes him anywhere). If you have a few extra leaves after sending some to Ms. Mancini then we would greatly appreciate it if you would send us some. We miss you and can't wait to see you. We will talk to you soon!!!
The Johnstons
PS- Sawyer says he is not coming to my birthday (Mom) because Clone Wars cartoon is coming on that day.
Hello love, we miss you and mommy and daddy and josh. I have not seen Ashley recently. No Hurricaine this time! Yea! I would like to come up there to see you. I will get with "someone" to see what is good. Do you have a winter jacket I could borrow???
Love you....Aunt Karen
Hi Zach! I haven't heard from you in a while. How are things going? Are the leaves starting to change yet? How are your counts? Can you take a picture of the leaves for me? You always take great pictures. You should consider being a photographer when you grow up!!! I have been really busy with school. I am at Health Park this semester. That is where you were born!! I miss you Zachary! I hope feel better soon.
Dear Zach & Family: It sounds like you have quite a few orders for our colorful VT leaves. When I moved my family back to Vermont from California, I used to send leaves to friends in CA. My first efforts ended in a mess....the people got an envelope full of crushed, itty, bitty, maple leaf pieces! So I started pressing the leaves between clear contact paper, and they made the trip cross country in one piece! Mission accomplished. You and your family are in my prayers. Your VT cousins in Graniteville...Love, Kathy & Perry
