Hello everyone!
So far everything is going well. We have gone back to the hospital 2 times for blood work and a transfusion but that was part of the plan. Thursday Zach has the last bone marrow and then they say a month or so later his port will be removed!
We are having a wonderful time being out of the hospital. Zach is enjoying all his toys and having his own room to play in....although he is usually pasted to my side. He, like most kids, isn't too sure about the "upstairs". So, when we he wants to go up to play in his room, one of us has to go as well, which is fine as I have a lot of organizing and unpacking to do.
Coming from Florida, zach has also learned that dancing in front of a space heater with a bare bottom can be a "very warm" experience. I had put one on the lid of the toilet in the bathroom as he was going to take a shower...just to warm it up a bit...and of course advised him to stay back from it (its a newer one so doesn't get hot to the touch) So as I was getting the water ready, he started dancing and stated at first "oh this feels good, its nice and warm". Then it went to "whoa, my butt's burnin'" WE all got a good laugh about that!
We are enjoying the snow and the cold weather....I snowed blowed and shoveled the other day. Zach likes tromping through the deep snow and sliding down the small hills on his rear. He has made several snow angels as well.
As soon as Zach's counts are high enough and he has a good immune system, we are looking forward to going to church and getting Zach into sunday school and starting Boy Scouts (or whatever his age group is called...tiger cubs I think). We hope to move to Danville this spring/summer so would like to get him started with these things in Danville and that way he will make friends for the summer and for school next year. One step at a time though...its nice to be able to think ahead about things other than returning to the hospital.
Ok.thats it for now....have to make dinner. I wil post more after Thursday and please keep Zach in your prayers that his bone marrow is negative for anything but normal cells!
Happy Winter
Steph
